It's been a FAT week this week. I have baked 5 large Sticky Date Cakes, which each make two loaf sized cakes... so 10 in all. 2 have been given away already, 6 are allocated at gifts, and the remaining two.... well they were never sliced in two OR given away. They stayed as a whole cake (briefly) and have been almost completely scoffed by us. And by us I mostly mean me. These Sticky Date Cakes are 162pp per whole cake, or 81pp per gift sized cake: 10pp per slice. Total food heaven.... and absolute diet hell. I only make them at Christmas, and not even every year!
I have also made 6 mason jars full of chocolate bark (something I saw on Pinterest that looked easy, pretty, and nice). I haven't pointed the bark as I am not intending to eat any of that myself. But I'm such a picker and nibbler that I wound up munching on chocolate as I went along. I pointed that. I might have been better off just having some bark!
Oh, and buns (cupcakes) for the kids school parties, including an experimental tray of 12 mint-choc-chip, melted snowman cakes, which were edible (as I proved) but not fit for public consumption - way too minty and the marshmallow snowmen sank into the buns making them chewy.
And I may have licked the bowls clean after making said cakes and bark too.
But that is all my baking and making done now for Christmas, so that's it for baking temptations. There are other demons to face though... like the beautiful looking, very posh chocolates I have been sent to review on my main blog. Now the kids are off school and I am taking them out and about - including eating out - there are fewer sensible choices to make. And from Tuesday onwards I am not in charge of my own meals as we will be away and eating with family.
But as I said earlier in the week... Christmas is only once a year. It's a big deal. And I WILL undo the damage in the New Year.
SO...... drum roll please!
- Me: +3 lb
- Hubby: +1 lb
- My total loss since Nov 2013: 52lb
- Back up to 4lb off a 4 stone loss!
Things I have learned this week:
- Licking the bowl DOES count
- Staying within my weeklies while living almost purely on cake does not mean I will still lose weight, or even maintain.
- That I DON'T "wish it could be Christmas every day" (or I would have a tummy like Santa's very very quickly)
Targets for this week:
- Enjoy Christmas - this time next week it will be over
- Try not to eat my bodyweight in cake and chocolate
- Continue to track as best I can, even though the diet is on hold until Jan 4th
Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views. Since I don't earn money from my blog (or at least not much, not even enough to buy one posh a coffee a week) I wont be doing that. The best way to make sure you will see my blog posts is to subscribe by email up there on the right. I usually only email once a week and include an invitation to my blog hop so you can share your posts too.
You can also go to my page, hover over the “liked” button and select get notifications. Then you will see my posts and status updates in your notifications. Mumma Walker on Facebook
